Chroma Group successfully delivered the comprehensive refurbishment of The Royce Hotel, a heritage-listed luxury boutique hotel originally built in 1928 as Melbourne's first Rolls-Royce showroom.
The project involved the transformation of guest rooms, suites, and public spaces, alongside the construction of a new glass conservatory and Porte cochere, all finished to the highest luxury standards while preserving the building's distinctive Art Deco heritage. Delivered within a live operating hotel, the project required careful staging, heritage protection, and close collaboration with the client, design team, and hotel management to minimise disruption to guests. Leveraging both local and international supply chains, Chroma Group procured premium finishes and materials to achieve exceptional quality and value, successfully balancing heritage conservation with contemporary hotel design.

Engagement Model
After completion of six Prototype Rooms in the heritage section of the hotel, Chroma Group was engaged under a negotiated delivery arrangement for the refurbishment of the rest of the hotel, providing early assessment of design documentation, buildability, and procurement considerations prior to construction.
Operating Environment
Delivered in a non-operational hotel environment, the project benefited from unrestricted access and carefully coordinated work sequencing, maximising programme efficiency.
