Marriott Melbourne MClub Bar & Lounge

Marriott Melbourne were seeking to refresh the feel of their MClub Bar and lounge areas, as well as a number of guestrooms.

The design reflects the concept of transition from night to light. Hotels are often associated with travel and transit while the service industry operates on a sleepless clock. The design embodies the longevity and timelessness of materiality and creates spaces that seamlessly blend warmth, texture, and a sense of calm.

The lounge features a central custom stone bench bar area surrounded by a variety of seating spaces and full height joinery of the lounge rising up to the high ceilings. The colour scheme is inspired by the natural transition from night to light, with dark and moody tones blending seamlessly with gold accents. Natural materials such as wood and stone are used throughout the space to create a tactile and inviting environment.

By activating underperforming areas in the building, the project revitalizes the ground floor as a space that allows guests to convene, bringing new life to the space.

The simple and sophisticated design for the private lounge carries through into the bar area, consisting of ceiling height sheers, polished stone and finished with various brass accents. Staples of the design also include floor to ceiling glazed partitions, inlaid carpet, and timber panelling
